Life at The Attention Agency

When I completed secondary school, my plan was to pursue a degree because like most young adults these days that’s what I thought was the expected (and only) option. My University course unfortunately got postponed after my first year, urging me to find an alternative path to further my education. The year was well underway at that point, so I explored different pathways which led me to the amazing Frankie Walker of Black Pineapple. Frankie offered me an Intern position, helping with graphic design and social content. After a rewarding 5 months I wanted to expand my knowledge and dive deeper into the digital marketing industry. Instead of returning to study, Frankie introduced me to the talented Tina Comrie, Founder of The Attention Agency. Tina reassured me that work experience was just as valuable as a degree, maybe even more so. To my delight, she offered me an internship at her agency to further my digital marketing knowledge and obtain real-world experiences and that was it, University was no longer a consideration.

I have been with the Attention Agency for 4 months and have already learnt more working for the company than I had during my year at Uni. I am able to work alongside a gifted team of digital marketing experts who truly inspire me. Not only are the team at the top of the digital marketing game, but the whole Attention environment is exceptionally supportive. Tina has established a remarkable business culture, and from day one I have had an incredible mentor who checks in with me weekly and allows me to reflect and improve on my acquired skills.

The Attention Agency places particular emphasis on upskilling and professional development to stay ahead of the curve. My personal favourite skill-building resource is a workshop called “How to become a Premier Pro pro”, taken by our insanely skilled digital designer Jordan. It is a place where I feel nurtured and guided in my digital marketing journey and it’s a privilege to learn editing skills from a guru like him.

I never thought work could be so enjoyable and fulfilling and I wake up excited to go into the agency. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to work on content for such a diverse range of clients. The work that we do for each client is unique, presenting me with opportunities to try my hand working on numerous design briefs and various content creation projects. My journey has just begun and I am very excited to see where it takes me.
